The author starts the paper by stressing the importance of a good textbook in the institutional upper-secondary education, especially with reference to the fact that most upper-secondary school teachers of law are not graduated lawyers. Surprisingly, the author further reveals that no one in the Czech Republic is systematically and satisfactorily evaluating quality of upper-secondary textbooks.
Therefore, he presents a good taxonomy of textbook evaluation from Estonian scientist J. Mikk and consequently designs his own nine criteria, produced especially for evaluation of upper-secondary textbooks of law.
These are further applied to three selected textbooks, showing which of the textbooks deserves to be considered the ideal example.
