On the Initial Contacts of the Romans and Northern Barbarians and on the Image of These Barbarians in Roman Republican Sources

Abstract

The paper deals with the references of ancient, prevailngly Roman Republican writers about babrarian nations living in the Nortern Europe, mostly about Celts and Germans. It is focused in particular on the Roman description of these peoples and their life-style and material culture.
