Error and language teaching - the sociocultural competence and the teaching of french as a foreing language

Abstract

This paper explore the relation between the notion of error and the development of the sociocultural competences; we explain how the notion of error and mistake differs from one language to another, try to explain the origin of some errors in relation with the problem of "school cultures" and discuss how foreign language teaching and learning are influenced this sociocultural conpetence of learners and teachers.
