The review study discusses principles of A. Bandura's social-cognitive theory of learning.
In theorizing about an individual's personality characteristics Bandura introduced a term self-efficacy, which could be applied in studying all human activities, not only learning. The term refers to two main aspects of human activity: a) a person's potential to carry out certain activity, b) a belief that such activity will lead to a desired outcome.
The authors of the study draw attention to problems that stem from translation of the term self-efficacy to both Czech and Slovak language. They describe the differences between this term and other related terms such as self-concept, self-esteem, and locus of control.
