Ethics of Social Conflicts. Axel Honneth and Critical Theory of Recognition

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2012

Abstract

The authors of the book analyze Honneth's Critical theory of recognition as ethics of social conflicts. They analyze it, first, from the perspective of the historical development of recognition, then, in three spheres of recognition, then, from the perspective of constitutional recognition, and, finally, from the perspective of international and global recognition.

They are concerned in both a systematic reconstruction of Honneth's theory as well as articulating its limits and the possibilities for further developing the theory in discussion with other theories.
