The book is based on long-term socio-anthropological research in several Christian communities in northern Bohemia. The first part is based on the theory of collective memory and examines a memory work in Sudeten borderland in two different Catholic parishes and one Baptist church.
The second part compares the modes of power in the Catholic parish church and the Unity of the Brethren in one city. It examines what place is restricted to God and how these regimes form a Christian self of its members.
The study concludes an evaluation through reflection from the field.
