Abstract

According to the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease, vulvodynia is vulvar discomfort, most commonly accompanied only by burning, without any clinical sings or neurological disorder. Its prevalence varies between 3.1% and 15% of the female population in a wide age range (16-80 years) but primarily affects women of reproductive age.

Subjects present with vulvar symptoms and accompanying feelings of frustration, highlighting the gravity of this condition. Idiopathic vulvodynia is the most frequent form of vulvodynia, and its diagnosis is made by exclusion.
