The paper deals with language and culture, two products of society, which are inseparable and which influence each other continuously. Culture reflects itself not only in language means but in a general comprehension of the surrounding world.
Culture influence on language is an important topic of linguistics and linguodidactics. Developement of communicative competence represents the most important goal of foreign language education but it requires deeper context understanding which is determinated by culture of the society.
In foreign language teaching it is necessary to develop sociocultural and cross-cultural part of communicative competence. The article deals with this component of the communicative competence and its conception in modern linguodidactics in more detail.
