Alcohol is the most commonly used doping substances, but its impact on performance is questionable. The aim of our study was to determine the effect of alcohol on heart rate during endurance exercise at anaerobic threshold intensity of running.
The research sample consisted of 12 last representatives (men) junior Czech Republic in the triathlon at the age of 22-26 years. The design of the research consisted of two repeated endurance test with and without alcohol consumption.
Probands run repeated running test 5 x 1 km, the interval between the parts was 15 min. The test completed with alcohol before every section of alcohol.
The total alcohol consumption was determined based on the calculation so that each participant testing after completion of the test had 0,2% alcohol level in the blood. When analyzing the average heart rate of cross sections completed without alcohol did not explore a statistically significant difference in heart rate (sig. 0.85).
When analyzing the average heart rate of the sections completed with consumption of alcohol showed a statistically significant difference in heart rate (sig. 0.000). The result also shows that the statistically significant difference at a significance level of 0.05 was found in all analyzed pairs (section have completed, with and without alcohol ingestion) except the first.
Statistically significant difference at a significance level of 0.01 was found in the analysis between the third, fourth and fifth section.
