Abstract

The article brings an analysis of Alfons von Montlong the hero of the relatively less known novel The Riding Whip set in postwar Germany in 1920 written by Ludwig Winder an author of Prague Germane literature and a member of the Prague Circle. The goal of this analysis is to show important features of this character and also how he is connected with other characters created by Winder.

A part of this topic is also the analysis of the development of the conflict between father and son von Montlong including the traumatic experiences made by Alfons von Montlong in his childhood and youth.
