Abstract

So-called historical novel does not differ from historical studies by imagination, but by its aesthetic function. It is not possible to define the kinds of novels by the plot, but by the model of fictional world.

There are two kinds of classical novel containing historical motifs: Walter Scott and Gustave Flaubert, in the Czech literature Alois Jirásek and Zikmund Winter.
