Abstract
By demythologizing the biblical narrative, Bultmann attempted to abstract fundamentally existential human conditions which should have brought light to the ancient texts and thus re-actualize it for modern reader. Problems, springing from this conception, occured fully even during Bultmann's life.
The theologian's polemic with the existential philosopher Karl Jaspers is one of the most precious proofs of the lively discussions of the time took place in the pages of prominent scientific magazines during the years 1953-1954.
