In the article we describe preparatory measurements of the effective reaction rate coefficient of N+ + p/o-H2 reaction in the 22-pole ion trap apparatus. A review of older measurements was made to form the expected outcomes and to evaluate preliminary results.
The role of probable impurities in gases and in a background gas in the apparatus on measured rate coefficients is discussed. The preparatory measurements indicated that at the present level of impurities it will be possible to determine the lower limit for the measurement of the effective rate constant of the reaction of N+ with p/o-H2 as 1.10-14 cm3s-1.
