Recombination of atomic and molecular cations with electrons is very important loss process of charged particles in plasma. At 300 K, molecular ions usually undergo dissociative recombination to neutral products with typical rate coefficient a 10e-7 cm3s-1.
Atomic ions usually recombine radiatively with rather small rate coefficient a 10e-12cm3s-1. In plasma at temperatures below 100K ternary recombination processes with very strong temperature dependences start to influence overall recombination process.
