The article concentrates on the present role of official development assistance in environmental protection and sustainable development in Africa. The model of development assistance has evolved towards target and resource mobilization approach resulting in building partnerships and fostering recipient countries'ownership, supported by efficient and transparent good governance mechanisms and practice as a basis of implementing policuies cinductive to environmental sustainability and equity in Africa.
The UN Assistance/Partnership Frameworks model presents the most integrated and efficient approach to multilateral assistance operated in African countries since 2002.
