Study The mysterious and the real worlds in words and pictures interprets Peter Sís, who was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2012, essential picture book for children Tibet through the Red Box, 1998, (in Czech: Tibet. Tajemství červené krabičky, 2005).
This picture book tells a real story from Petr Sís childhood, when his father, a Czechoslovak filmmaker left for China and Tibet in the fifties and spent there a very long time before he could return back home. His own memories are intervowen with imagination and mysticism.
An ever repeating motive in Petr Sís memories are the changing colours in his images. The play of colours is manifested in his illustrations and mysterious stories based on Tibetan mythology and culture and in many ways it reflects the mind of now the adult son - Petr Sís.
