Two methods for the determination of sulfamethizole on a carbon paste electrode (CPE) in pharmaceutical and urine samples were developed, using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and HPLC with amperometric detection. The voltammetric method is advantageous because of the undemanding sample treatment and quick, inexpensive and reliable determination and it is applicable for the sulfamethizole determination in pharmaceutical formulations.
The chromatographic method was combined with SPE extraction. It provides higher selectivity and sensitivity while keeping the simple and inexpensive arrangement and allows the determination of sulfamethizole in a biological matrix.
