The study deals with the topic, which role played the outdoor excursions in the education of Czech historians in the first decade after founding of the independent Czechoslovak Republic and which form they had. At the Czech Faculty of Arts in Prague such excursions were organised by the professor Josef Vítězslav Šimák and they were financially supported by the Ministry of Education.
This model was abandoned in the consequence of the financial crisis in the early 1930’s.
