Abstrakt
Featuring toilets uses insights from feminist studies in space, sociology and cutlural studies to study excerpts from Czechoslovak and Czech films. In particular, attention is paid to how the spaces of toilets have been used in Czech cinema and whether it is possible to reveal any pattern or change connected, e.g., with changes to political regime.
The idea behind the paper is that this taboo space could be embraced by filmmakers in an unconventional way revealing the nature of gender in a given society.
