Myxoid liposarcoma, tumor with rare incidence in the mediastinum, has the first symptoms usually connected with oppression of surrounding structures or with damage of serous surfaces. If a surgery therapy is possible, this kind of treatment becomes basic therapeutical modality.
Efficiency of chemotherapy and radiotherapy has been still discussed. A case of 69-year-old patien with myxoid liposarcoma is described in our case report.
Chemotherapy of first (carboplatin+etoposid) and second line (CYVADIC) was followed by radiotherapy. A long surviving with a good life quality was obtained thanks this treatment.
This case demonstrates chemotherapy and radiotherapy should not be explicitly rejected as a completely ineffective method as some of authors have described.
