The importance of functional subtypes of HIV-specific T lymphocytes in the pathogenesis of HIV infection

Publication

Abstract

In the three years lasting grant, we have reached many interesting observations in the field of immunopathogenesis of HIV infection. Our long term follow-up of HIV-specific immune response did not identify any significant changes in frequency of gag-specific CD8+T cells.

Our results suggest that frequency of gag-specific CD8+ T cells, detected with MHC tetramers, is not associated with the control of viral replication both in untreated HIV+ patients and patients on cART.
