Abstract
The author describes the course of habilitation in dental medicine, where the degrees were awarded to E-Nessl and M.Baštýř 125 years ago. The paper refers to pertinent records deposited in the Charles University Archive and explains the contributions of both teachers to development of dentistry, the specialization which was lectred in Prague since 1828.
