Changes of superoxide and malonyldialdehyde in mice treated with ionizing

Abstract

One of the hypothesised feature of laser irradiation is the ability to reduce the adverse effects of gamma rays in patients with malignant disease. The proof of that would be significant for radiotherapist and radiobiology.

Currently, many studies show a positive effect of therapeutic laser. Therapeutic laser has an effect on intracellular metabolism, nocisensors and the concentration of cytokines.

The literature has still a very small amount of information concerning the interactions of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and the role of superoxide dismutase and malonyldialdehyde (products of lipid peroxidation). The results of our studies raise a number of questions, such as the potential effect of energy density and laser wavelength on the body or whether the oxidative stress is dependent on the dose of ionizing radiation.
