Abstract

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is one of the major causes of disability in young adults. Pathologically, MS is characterised by multifocal inflammatory lesions with axonal loss in the central nervous system (CNS).

Autoimmune mechanisms seem to play a central role in the development of MS lesions.
