Abstract
Prolactinomas account for approximately 40% of all pituitary adenomas. Hyperprolactinemia causes hypogonadism, infertility and galactorrhea.
The aim of the treatment is restoration of hypogonadism and fertility as well as tumor shrinkage in macroprolactinoma patients. Primary treatnmment is pharmacological therapy with dopamine agonists.
In some cases surgical therapy is necessary and the radiosurgery with gamma knife is useful.
