2010

Abstract

There is large psychiatric comorbidity connected with smokeing and psychiatric patients mostly smoke - about 60 % those with depression, about 80-90 % schizophrenic patiens. Therefore it is difficult to create smoke-free psychatric wards.

But, is it possible and needed. Of course, adequate treatment has to be offered.

There is a large support of both staff and patients to smoke-free psychiatric wards in countries where they exist.
