The article presents the results of a 2008 study which took place in 34 long term care facilities, home care agencies, social care institutions and senior houses. Ward and head nurses made reports of 465 patients.
The findings of the study show that the main obstacle to providing good quality care is insufficient reimbursement of appliances and other equipment. Continence training is done in 30 % of patients, physiotherapy in 13 %.
The results are used for developing a standard for nursing care of an incontinent patient.
