Abstract

The analysis of endomyocardial biopsy (EMB) specimens using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and immunohistochemistry currently represent a gold standard for diagnostics of inflammatory dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). However, there is conflicting evidence regarding the prognostic significance of viral and /or myocardial inflammation persistence.
