The purpose of this article is to give the overview of the most common forms of onychodystrophy, which represent approximately 50 % of nail disorders. Damage can be caused by many causes such as traumatic, structural, primary, tumorous, infectious, cutaneous and systemic.
Morphological expressions of these processes are either the changes of shape, color, consistency or their combinations. Nail changes may also be a clue to the diagnosis due to the easy accessibility of the nail plate.
