Parathyroid carcinoma is rare. The most common histological finding in primary hyperparathyroidism are adenoma or parathyroid hyperplasia.
Carcinoma of the parathyroid as a cause of primary hyperparathyroidism is reported about 1%. In our group of 557 patients operated on for primary hyperparathyroidism was 0.5%.
Parathyroid carcinoma affects both men and women, according to data from literature in the same relationship.
