Radon - ecological problem of the Czech Republic

Abstract

Radon and its products illuminate the residents of the Czech Republic more than 70 % of the total dose. The Czech Republic belongs between states where is concentration of radon in the air the highest it is because of its geological profile.

Radon, a natural radioactive gas penetrates into the foundations of buildings from the soil, inappropriate building materials or from groundwater. Health consequences of exposure to radon in the Czech Republic are 900 cases of lung cancer deaths per year (that is approximately 15% of deaths from lung cancer in the Czech Republic).
