Treatment response to bortezomib in multiple myeloma correlates with plasma hepatocyte growth factor concentration and bone marrow thrombospondin concentration

Abstract

Multiple myeloma (MM) is associated with increased rate of bone marrow angiogenesis. Increased concentration of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) is associated with poor prognosis in patients treated with conventional chemotherapy or thalidomide.
