In this chapter there are summarized the main principles of the preparation of histological non-decalcified sections of bone for microscopical bioptic examinations and bone histomorphometry in patients with renal osteodystrophy. The histomorphometric examinations allow the quantification of bone mass and osteoid mass.
It is recommended to evaluate static and dynamic parameters assessing the extent of tetracycline uptake by bone tissue. Histological findings in different subtypes of renal osteopathy (mixed renal osteodystrophy, osteomalacia, adynamic osteopathy and aluminium osteoapthy ) are presented.including histological pictures.
