Involuntary treatments in mental health care as well as in the whole medical care are permanently discussed and are leading to controversial statements. When participating in EUNOMIA project we have followed a numerous group of patients admitted involuntary to Psychiatric Department of General Faculty Hospital in Prague and in Psychiatric hospital in Bohnice. 55 % of 202 followed patients found the admission right after one month after admission and 63 % after three months.
Positive views were expressed especially by male patients living not alone in whom during the follow up period their psychic state was improved. Patient´s views in Czech centers despite problems with financing of the mental health care in our country did not differ from those living in more developed European countries.
Relationships between restrictions of individual rights and safety of all members of the whole society is and will be a long-term process which will be also influencing mental health care in the future.
