Abstract
Induratio penis plastica or Peyronie´s disease is characterized by the presence of fibrous plaques in the tunica albuginea of the penis. It is a connective tissue disease primarily affecting the tunica albuginea.
The plaques are mainly composed of collagen and may significantly alter the anatomy and function of the penis. Treatment is difficult, medication therapy should always be initiated first.lf oral medication fails, treatment with local injection applied directly into the plaque can be used.
The author reviews the literature data and his own results of treatment with verapamil administered locally in 17 patients with this disease.
