A traumatic lesion on the pelvis of a Germanic priestess buried in a tumulus at Žuráň (south Moravia, Czech republic)

Abstract

A 38year old female was buried in the tomb No.II at Žuráň. Paleopathological analysis of her skeletal remains showed a strange square puncture in the centre of retabulum of the left pelvic bone.

The CT scan revealed teak sign sof healing in the form of sclerotization on the edges of the traumatic lesion. Histological examination confirmed it.

There is evidence, the woman survived the wound for a short period of several days.
