As an introduction, the chapter defines the term hypoglycemia. Further it deals with its classification that is followed by the patophysiological discussion about hypoglycemia.
When feedback mechanisms of the glycaemia control are disrupted, glycaemia fluctuation with clinical manifestation of the different malfunction occurs. This malfunction is later followed by the morphological changes.
Apart from the most usual cause of hypoglycemia that is inadequate insulin or peroral antidiabetic dose in relation to inappropriate physical activity or improper quantity of diet, this chapter also deals with more scarce states jointed with hypoglycemia. At the end of the chapter the hypoglycemia therapy is mentioned.
