Managers in the healthcare sector have to meet high demands, as they provide for planning, organising and supervising activities. The system of working in healthcare is based on team cooperation.
We focused our research on ward nurses' existing and future working plans attempting to detect whether the expectations that they had before commencing their jobs have been fulfilled and whether they have achieved their professional goals. The nurses evaluated the preparation preceding their arrival to the position of ward nurse as sufficient.
The arrival in the position of ward nurse is demanding or even stressful. Ward nurses are able to achieve their professional goals.
They believe that their success lies in that they manage the team of nurses and organise their work well. They view themselves as unsuccessful in administrative work; they also identify lack of time to spend with the patient, fluctuation of nurses and lack of auxiliary staff as failures.
They describe their professional career as stressful and demanding, but beautiful at the same time. They want to educate themselves further on.
