Abstract
Markers allowing the early detection of infectious complications and their differential diagnostics in high-risk patients are of major clinical importance. Specificity and sensitivity of selected acute-phase proteins, procalcitonin, cytokines and cytokine receptors are analyzed in different types of systemic inflammatory response.
