Abstract

Oral communication reports on the project financed from EU funds, which deals with health promotion for young vulnerable people in prison settings. The project is being implemented in collaboration with partners from 7 EU Member States.

The main objective is to create practical tools and techniques which would help enhance measures to promote health in prisons. It is empirically verified that the environment of imprisonment is risky as regards health, psychological and social status.

Preventive measures that are otherwise available are not appropriately applied in prisons. The study used both qualitative and quantitative methods.

To achieve its objective the needs assessment of young prisoners, prison staff and NGO staff is planed in the project. The target group of the presented project are persons under 25 years in prison settings.

The specific attention is within the target population devoted to the most vulnerable people, such as foreigners, women, first-time offenders or problematic drug users.
