Abstract
This review examines the homeostasis of calcium, phosphorus and magnesium, bone remodeling and mechanisms of action and indications of antiresorptive and bone anabolic treatments. The review provides data on epidemiology, ethiopathogenesis, diagnosis, prevention ant therapy in main bone metabolic diseases (postmenopausal osteoporosis, osteoporosis in men, glucocorticoid induced osteoporosis, osteomalacia, and Pagets disease).
