Abstract
The research revealed many new facts about the importance of risk factors in the development of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in the last few decades. Their influence on the occurance of first episodes varies from having a minimal impact (obesity, smoking, long lasting travel, and hyperhomocysteinemia) to having a substantial impact (the deficiency of anticoagulant protein, cancer, trauma, surgery).
