Abstract

Depression and diabetes have the common pathophysiological mechanisms. Depreesion usually occurs many years before the development of diabetes II, diabetes I occurs in the childhood and patients are inzulin dependent and depression occurs later during the the course of somatic illness.

Treatment of depression in the diabetic patients are with antidepressants (SSRI), psychotherapy and education.
