The phonological voicing contrast in Czech: An EPG study of phonated and whispered fricatives

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2013

Abstract

The study employs electropalatography (EPG) to investigate the articulatory correlates of the voicing contrast in phonated and whispered Czech speech. The results revealed significant differences in the contact patterns of fortis (voiceless) and lenis (voiced) fricatives in phonated speech but the differences diminished in whisper.
