Mimetic phenomena in the animal kingdom

Abstract

Mimetic phenomena in biology are based on the superficial mutual resemblance of two or more organisms or on the imitation of inanimate natural objects. Some concrete examples of animal procrypsis, anticrypsis, allocrypsis, seasonal color changes, somatolysis, flash coloration, eye spots and various mimicry are presented.
