Abstract
In this paper mission, purpose and sense as well as need of teacher further education are outlined. Firstly, actual arguments for the need of teacher further education are introduced, selected problems connected with it follow.
Finally, concrete steps adopted at Department of Chemistry and Chemistry Education, Faculty of Education, Charles University in Prague in teacher training are presented as an inseparable component of education.
