Automation of geospatial raster data analysis and metadata updating : an in-database approach

Abstrakt

The article introduces a new approach for management of a continuous flow of geospatial images and related metadata. The solution enhances the usual tasks and usability of SDI systems by storing raster data and deploying analytical tools within the archiving system.

The functionality is documented by experiments with snow and cloud detection from satellite images and with the improvement of display of early map scans.
