Czech Republic 2013: Welcome to semipresidentialism

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2013

Abstract

After the inauguration of the first directly elected president the Czech Republic has become a semi-presidential republic. The logic of semi-presidentialism did occur during the political crisis, which was caused by resignation of PM Petr Nečas and appointment of new "presidential government" with PM Jiří Rusnok.

The paper focuses on analysis of institutional change and its consequences on Czech politics after Miloš Zeman became the president of the Czech Republic.
