Abstract
The interview provides an insight into the foundation and the trajectory of future development of the field of visual culture studies. It emphasizes the importance a situation of the field of visual studies located between a study of new media and a research of digital technologies.
The article shows the inner transdisciplinary character of visual culture in the Anglo-American context as well as the theoretical core of discipline rooted in postmodern philosophy of the late 20th century.
