Abstract
The chapter deals with shifts in addressing persons in superior position in the Czech society in the last decade. There are two researches presented, the first is based on a questionnaire, the second brings an analysis of authentic material, e-mail correspondence between university students and their lecturers.
It shows that the power distance between interactants and the asymmetry in communication gets smaller .
